We Are NCAA Approved
UTVA is recognized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which enables our students to take courses that count toward the academic requirements needed to become a college athlete.
UTVA is an online schooling option that allows students to complete coursework anywhere. As an NCAA approved online public school, we proudly support our athletes and guide them toward achieving academic and athletic success throughout high school and beyond.
NCAA schools require college-bound student athletes to build a strong foundation of high school courses to prepare them for the academic expectations in college.

What is the NCAA?
The NCAA consists of three divisions:
Division I
Generally has the largest student body, athletics budgets, and number of athletic scholarships.
Division II
Focuses more on academic achievement and service to the community.
Division III
Maintains participation in a competitive athletics environment that still pushes academic excellence.
What does NCAA approved mean?
Not all courses at UTVA count as NCAA core courses. By checking the NCAA High School Portal website or by contacting a UTVA school counselor, you can find a comprehensive list of NCAA approved courses, limitations, and restrictions.
Student athletes must also graduate from high school and earn a minimum GPA.
