Real School, From Home
UTVA Elementary gives students the structure of a traditional public school, with the flexibility of learning from home.
Each morning, students attend live classes taught by Utah-licensed teachers. Instruction is aligned to the Utah Core Standards, and reading instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading. After live classes, students complete their coursework on their own schedule.
All courses and assignments are in Canvas. Hands-on learning materials are shipped to your home, so students learn offline as well as online. Parents can check their student's progress anytime through Canvas, as well as communicating with our teachers and other staff.
A Teacher Who Knows Your Child's Name
Every UTVA Elementary student has a Utah-licensed teacher guiding their learning. These are real educators, not recorded lectures or automated programs. They teach live classes each morning, track your child's progress, and are available by phone, email and live virtual meetings when needed. Twice each year our teachers hold parent-teacher conferences, where students share their own learning data with parents.
Because teachers see their students every day, they get to know each child. Class sizes are small, around 20 students per teacher on average. When a student is struggling, their teacher notices and steps in. When a student reaches a milestone, their teacher celebrates it. These relationships are what make UTVA Elementary different.
Seeing teachers and classmates face-to-face in live class matters to our students. Elementary-aged students are highly motivated to attend and achieve when they are able to connect with friends each morning in class.
More Than Online. A Real Community.
UTVA Elementary is an online school, but it is not an isolated one. Throughout the year, students and families come together at events like the Back to School Fair, grade-level outings, and other gatherings held across Utah. These moments build real friendships and real community among students who might otherwise only know each other from a screen.
Because UTVA serves families statewide, your child has classmates from across Utah, a diverse, engaged group of learners who share the same curiosity and drive.
Our students spend so much time learning together, so being able to see their teachers and classmates face-to-face is incredibly meaningful. You can feel the excitement when students recognize each other or run to hug their teacher.
