Governing Board.
Utah Virtual Academy is governed by a volunteer board of directors committed to academic excellence, financial accountability, and the long-term success of every student we serve.
Open to the Public
UTVA's governing board follows the Utah Open Meetings Act. All meetings are open to the public and posted at least 24 hours in advance on the Utah Public Notice website, along with meeting agendas, minutes, and recordings. Meetings are generally scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month.
Minutes and recordings are also available by contacting the school directly. Additional board documents and historical records are available in the board archive.
Policies and Chartering Documents
The board is responsible for overseeing school policies and the UTVA charter. Policies are reviewed regularly and adopted at public meetings. UTVA was approved by the Utah State Charter School Board and the State Board of Education in 2008.
Financial Oversight
The governing board oversees the financial health of Utah Virtual Academy, reviewing and approving budgets on a regular basis. All approved budgets are publicly available on the Utah Public Finance website. Monthly budget reports are available upon request.
Stakeholders who wish to report concerns of fraud, waste, abuse, or non-compliance may contact school administration, the governing board, or file directly with the Utah State Board of Education through the Public Education Hotline at 801.538.7813.
Our Board of Directors
